Emotional success for admirable Coole Cody

Coole Cody unlucky in last month’s Paddy Power Gold Cup made amends in the Racing Post Gold Cup Handicap Chase at the International Meeting to record an emotional victory for connections.

The Evan Williams trained ten-year-old is no spring chicken but loves it around Cheltenham and got into a beautiful rhythm out in front under Adam Wedge and kept galloping all the way to the line to see off all challengers.

An emotional Williams said “Although he had a fall last time, those things don't seem to affect him. He's one of those rare breeds - he's tough and faces the music every time he lines up for a big gig.”

He looks likely now to have another crack at the Plate at the Cheltenham Festival in March.

The son of Dubai Destination has now won over £200,000 in prize money since being purchased by Tom Malone for £5,200 from Sundale Farm at the 2016 Ascot July Sale.
