Coole Cody Stars In Festival Plate

The admirable COOLE CODY continued his love affair with Cheltenham when scoring an emotional victory in the Festival Plate at the Cheltenham Festival yesterday for trainer Evan Williams and owner Wayne Clifford.

The remarkably tough eleven-year-old has taken in all the top staying handicap chases in the last few seasons winning the Paddy Power Gold Cup in 2020 and the Racing Post Gold Cup in 2021. He set off in his customary front running role and battled on bravely after the last after being headed to win in tenacious style. This was a career best at the the age of eleven.

He was purchased for just £5,200 by Tom Malone at the 2016 Ascot July Sale from Sundale Farm.

Tattersalls Ascot graduates have won an impressive 952 races since January 2021, of those 35 have won or been placed in 53 black-type races. This is despite the COVID-19 related disruptions to the sales calendar and this particular venue in the last two years.

The upcoming Tattersalls Ascot March Sale will have a dedicated session of British and Irish point-to-pointers. Wildcards are now being accepted for this and can be entered online.

Further entries will be accepted up until Monday March 28th, subject to availability and will be published online with a printed catalogue available on the day of the sale.
