Active trade at the Tattersalls Ascot July Sale

Tattersalls Ireland Ascot July Sale enjoyed active trade throughout concluding with a notably strong clearance rate of 88%, up 10% on 2017, along with an aggregate of £501,700, an average of £4,216 and a median of £2,200.

Headlining the sale was the two-year-old daughter of Showcasing, Tralong Bay (Lot 68). The regally bred filly consigned by Baroda & Colbinstown Stud, is out of the black-type performer Alexander Youth and is from the family of MOSS VALE. Tralong Bay, unraced to date, was knocked down to Howson & Houldsworth Bloodstock for £37,000.

The Bonny Boy (Lot 119), placed 2nd when only beaten one length in the five-year-old Geldings Maiden at Ballingarry, caught the attention of Tom Malone and Thomas Costello. Consigned by Graiglore Stables, the Craigsteel gelding was knocked down to the duo for £24,000.

At the conclusion of the sale, Tattersalls Ireland Director of Horses in Training Sales Richard Pugh commented;

"We were very pleased with todays clearance rate of 88% which saw a wide buyer base active from start to finish. Flat and National Hunt trainers along with overseas and domestic purchasers all contributed to one of the highest clearance rates ever recorded at Ascot in recent times.

 "Ascot Summer Sales have carved a strong summer presence with former Champion Point to Point horse Ourmanmassini and Royal Ascot runner up Dubai Fifty among the graduates in recent years. Furthermore these summer sales have produced some of the top prices achieved for Horses in Training anywhere in the UK over the last number of years and we now look forward to the Ascot August Sale on Tuesday 21 August where we hope to continue the trend."
